I'm a Cloud & DevOps Architect with more than 25 years of experience in software development, design and architecture across a range of industries and international contexts. I started out as an aeronautical & aerospace engineer at the Politecnico di Torino and moved into enterprise software architecture, then into the cloud and DevOps world.
Today I design infrastructure and delivery platforms on public and private clouds, build the toolchains and Software Factories that enable continuous delivery, and help organisations assess and grow their DevOps maturity. I enjoy working with people from different cultures and backgrounds, and I'm at my best sharing knowledge, evangelising good engineering practice, and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience
A path from systems administration to cloud and solution architecture — across Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
- Consolidates condominium and building management — finances, suppliers, maintenance, documents and communications — into a single system.
- Dedicated portals for owners and renters alongside the administrator workspace, with bank reconciliation and an AI assistant.
- Localised across six languages for the Italian, French, Spanish, Swiss, German and Portuguese markets.
- Design infrastructure architecture on public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure) and private clouds (VMware, Nutanix), including cost analysis.
- Design continuous delivery processes and cloud architectures; run DevOps maturity assessments and customer advisory.
- Implement cloud architecture as code using Packer, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Design & implement security architecture with HashiCorp Vault, an image-build bakery for VM & Docker images, and the Software Factory / toolchain enabling continuous delivery.
- Design and hold DevOps adoption workshops for clients.
- Designed & implemented the SDLC (CI/CD processes, pipelines & components) for the MediaLive platform.
- Designed and organised the cloud migration of the CI/CD platform to OpenStack & AWS, following Infrastructure as Code and immutable-infrastructure patterns.
- Authored Docker & Kubernetes guidelines and REST APIs for R&D teams, with hands-on workshops and tutorials.
- Managed continuous-delivery projects and distributed (Indian) development teams building cloud services.
- Evangelised open-source frameworks, CI/CD and DevOps culture across teams in CH, UK and IN.
- Designed part of the next-generation infrastructure architecture for Interactive Digital TV.
- Designed the Remote DVR services and brought them to production, plus Smartnet services (Caller Line ID, VM notification on TV, call log).
- Designed service architecture, applications and components on .NET & J2EE; defined the Message Delivery Service architecture.
- Defined SDLC processes in the CTO department and managed off-shore development teams.
- Led the EAI development team (10 members), managing activities, project economics and supplier relations.
- Analysed and designed new SOA-based services on .NET and J2EE, emitting development guidelines across departments.
- Designed the SDLC and implemented configuration management & QA procedures for SOA governance and framework selection.
- Designed and developed rich-client and web-client user interfaces for n-layer, multi-tier applications.
- Delivered system-integration projects across Lotus Notes, MS Exchange, Active Directory and Unix.
- Built Java/J2EE and .NET integration & interoperability solutions, and portal integration on Windows SharePoint Services 2003 — with a strong focus on security.
